Hollywood - The Litmus Test for Cosmetic Medicine
I was watching the Golden Globe Awards the other night and was struck by how beautiful all of the women were.
Not just the
actresses but the directors, producers, writers, and every single woman
in the room. In fact, you couldn't tell the actresses from the
behind-the-camera women. Everyone adhered to a single standard of
exquisite beauty.
43-year-old writer/producer Tina Fey 36-year-old actress Milla Jovovich
It's You Guys, Isn't It?
While certain
industries admittedly attract good-looking people, this physical
fabulousness can't be chalked up only to genes. There's something else
going on.
Namely, an army of plastic and cosmetic surgeons in Los Angeles is creating a super-race.
Only Two Ages
This super-race defies the usual categories of aging. In Hollywood these days there are only two ages for women:
- Starlet age (birth to 25 years old)
- Grown-up age (25 years old to death)
The starlets in the room differed from the grown-ups in only one way: they had a certain bloom that can't be faked. This gave them a slight edge over the grown-ups.
But even 72-year-olds (Jane Fonda) looked uncannily like
53-year-olds (Annette Bening), who were often indistinguishable from 41-year-olds (Tina Fey) and many of the 25-year-olds.
Truly, cosmetic medicine has come into its own.
