Plastic Surgeons Warn About MedSpas
The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery and the
American Society of Plastic Surgeons have joined forces to
warn about the risk of MedSpas. They advise consumers to ask
these questions before undergoing treatments:
- Who's the physician responsible for oversight?
- When is the physician available for pretreatment questions
and consultation?
- What training does the facility's personnel have?
While some MedSpas are safe and supervised by doctors, say
ASPS and ASAPS, all bets are off when treatments are provided
outside of a physician's office. And they stress that unlicensed,
non-medical people should never be allowed to perform medical
procedures.
