I've noticed something about my patients who get Mommy Makeovers. Not long after their recovery, they go through a metamorphosis.
- First, they start working out and eating better.
- Next, they change their hairstyle and their wardrobes.
- After that, they start buying better cosmetics and cosmeceuticals, getting facials and massages — treating themselves better in lots of small ways.
Slowly the changes add up. These women begin an upward spiral that creates exponential changes in how they look.
A Different Person
| I see these patients six months or so after surgery, and they look startlingly better than before. If you saw them, you'd be hard put to imagine the stressed, despairing mom who'd arrived in my consulting room just months earlier, talking about feeling trapped inside a declining body. You'd say to yourself, "That woman could not look more poised, happy and beautiful."

"I felt so different after I recovered from surgery," says one of our Mommy Makeover patients (let's call her Karen). "My sloppy stomach was gone. I felt more vertical, and I remembered what it was like to be athletic, the way I was in college and in my 20s. That feeling of being completely in command of my body. It made me want to start swimming again."
A Former Athelete
Karen had been a competitive diver in college. She continued water sports after starting her career, joining a water polo team and volunteering as a swim instructor. "Doing laps before practice or class, kept me in fabulous shape back then. I never needed to join a gym."
But three pregnancies, and 15 years as a stay-at-home mom, had taken their toll. Looking at how she'd let herself go, Karen wondered if she'd have to trim her expectations and settle for life as a woman "built for comfort, not for speed."
The Road Back
| "What I found out was that it's never too late," she reports. "In just eight months, I got back 90% of what I had before. I did laps every day, added some weight-bearing exercises, and of course, I continued to eat healthy, which I've always done.
"It was slow and at times the changes were imperceptible, but I was amazed at how my body healed itself."

Our Resilient Bodies
Have you ever felt your body wanting to improve? Recent research about exercise for mature adults, shows people in their 70s can regain the muscular strength of 20-year-olds, given the right physical training. Just imagine what you could do with a good head start.
"I've still got some cellulite on my thighs," Karen admits. "That may be permanent — I don't wear shorts any more. But otherwise, I look and feel as vital as my 25-year-old self. This feels like a miracle. I'm so glad I got the surgery.
"Not only do I love looking in the mirror now, I'm less scared of growing old. I see how much control I have over the whole maturation process. In the end, that will probably be the best thing to come out of this."
If you have additional surgeries as part of your Mommy Makeover, your recovery will be different. We'll advise you about all recovery protocols, so you heal comfortably, with perfect results.
